SUMMARY:Fundraiser and Hike to support Children's Hospital Mental Health Department
DESCRIPTION:Suicide is the leading cause of death for kids age 10 and older.\nClimbing for Kids is Aug. 6\, 2021\n\nClimbing for Kids is one of Colorado's most anticipated summer family events. The charity 14'er mountain climb benefits Children's Hospital Colorado\, supporting Colorado children with mental health challenges.\n\n\n\nThe Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) at Children's Colorado served more than 6\,500 children last year\, but there is still much work to do. The suicide rate in Colorado is the 7th highest in the nation and suicide is the second leading cause of death among adolescents in our state. One in five youth are affected by mental illness and only one of three of those affected receive mental health services. On average\, youth struggle with symptoms of mental health issues for eight to 10 years before accessing care. We know that early access to quality mental health care significantly improves outcomes\, so we need to let families know it is necessary to speak up and seek services for their children.\n\n\n\nClimbing for Kids aims to drive awareness and financial support for the care of children and families who require early prevention\, ongoing therapy\, and access to the medical professionals who can make a difference for kids who need it most for the kids who have a much larger mountain to climb.\n\n\n\nWhether you've climbed a 14'er before or not\, there's a way to help the cause.\nPlease join us here: https://secure.childrenscoloradofoundation.org/site/TR/ClimbingforKids/General?px=1345707&pg=personal&fr_id=1770\n\n\n\nPlease note that our corporate HQ are located in Colorado and OTG has supported this cause for 16 years now.
